Five

Client: Five

Date: 2024

Location: Madrid, Spain

At Trem we have contributed our expertise in industrial design and product development to create the Five terminals.

In this project, we have joined the challenge of converting a pioneering technology in biometrics into a product that redefines how we interact with payment and personal access systems.

Your hand keeps a unique, unrepeatable map, which Five becomes the key to identify you through a secure language.

This innovative device works with two modes of biometrics by scanning the pattern of the skin and veins of the hand, so that the biometric signature is virtually unbreakable and impossible to forge. It even detects blood flow, ensuring that the only thing that activates it is a real, live, human hand.

A balance between technological sophistication and inimitable nature that redefines security and usability.

Our goal was to design a terminal that would break with industry conventions, offer a seamless and engaging user experience and be brand identifiable.

To achieve this, we align ourselves with Five's strategy and work on every aspect of the design, from the form, ergonomics and interaction with the user, the selection of materials, colors and finishes, to the definition of technical aspects and integration of components.

We carried out an iteration process through 3D printed prototypes with hot wire and resin, which allowed us to refine the model and focus on critical details to optimize the user experience and ensure optimal product functionality. This process not only refined the design, but also allowed us to respond to the technical and aesthetic needs that the project required.

Finally, we designed a support according to the Five design language and adapted to the technical and functional needs and requirements of the product. The idea of this support was to hide the fixing structure of the product, achieving a light and almost floating visual effect.

Result

The result is a payment and access terminal consisting of an ABS casing and a stainless steel sheet support. With an ergonomic, scalable, and visually striking design, the product transcends its technological function to become a versatile tool for multiple sectors: hotels, gyms, festivals, or supermarkets.

Five is not just a terminal—it is a step forward toward a future where technology and design work together to deliver unique and secure experiences aligned with the brand's strategic vision.
