The project stems from the need to update the collection points for containers in establishments participating in the deposit, return, and refund system (SDDR).
Although this type of device has been around for years, its design has not evolved at the same pace as commercial spaces or user needs.
The challenge was to design a more accessible machine with a cleaner aesthetic and a clearer user experience, while respecting all the functional requirements of the SDDR system.
We worked on a shape that moved away from the traditional orthogonal design, seeking a
more fluid silhouette that would allow for more harmonious integration into different contexts.
A user-oriented information screen was integrated into the upper part, displaying instructions and the status of the return. This combination allows both people with reduced mobility and regular users to perform the operation with greater ease and control.

Result
Product development included formal design, component integration analysis, and ergonomic study. The container entry area was redesigned to be at an accessible height, including a glass window that allows the validation process to be clearly seen.
The result is a terminal that meets the technical requirements of the SDDR system, but also reflects a new approach to recycling at the point of sale: more inclusive, clearer, and better suited to today's environments.
